My family is not a big fan of pete but sometimes we like to use it some dishes. For me pete best eaten with spicy food or combined with other  other strongly flavoured food such as sambal, sambal goreng, salted dried fish, shrimp or shrimp paste. We just buy pete when its cheap and abundant and keep it in storage or you can freezing it. Day 154, Tumis Leunca Tempe (Stir fry European Black Nightshade and Tempe)

I adapted this recipe from Sundanese food-ulukutek leunca. Ulukutek leunca usually made from oncom and leunca (black nightshade), but today I can’t find oncom so I use tempe.

Beside used as a traditional medicine, black nightshade usually used as a food in Asian country such as Indonesia and India.

Day 152, Grandma’s Beef Curry

I ate this curry since early childhood.I remember often my mom make this curry not only for Eid celebration but also made it when guest from abroad come to visit, even thought this curry a bit too spicy for their palate but they enjoyed it. We call it grandma’s curry because the recipe handed down from grandma to my mother and aunts. Even though come from the same recipe, but my mom’s curry a bit different with aunt M’s curry. My mom’s curry a bit more spicy and thick while aunt M’s curry taste more like Indian curry. Continue reading
